Hachi: A Dog's Tale (2009)

Get your tissues ready for this one. Hachi is an American drama based on a true story from Japan. Hachi is a moving film about loyalty, unconditional love, and the unshakable bond between dogs and humans. A college professor named Parker finds an adorable young Akita puppy who's been abandoned at a local train station. Immediately after seeing the puppy, Parker is instantly captivated by the dog. When no one comes to the train station to claim the dog the following day, Parker takes the dog home and convinces his wife, Cate, to welcome the puppy as the newest addition to their family. Parker names the puppy Hachiko (Hachi for short). Hachi is a unique dog in that he refuses to learn how to fetch and every other people-pleasing trick. Still, Hachi is hugely loyal to Parker and warns him of danger. He follows Parker to the train station every morning and meets Parker in the evening after returning from his trip. One day the unthinkable happens, and we see the depths of Hachi's devotion to his owner that transcends death. The beautiful bond between Parker and his dog is enough to bring tears to the eyes of anyone watching and is what makes this seemingly simple film so moving.
